Wrongfully convicted Kansas man to get $7.5 million payment

OSKALOOSA, Kan. (AP) — A Kansas man who spent 16 years in prison for a rape and murder he didn’t commit will receive $7.5 million from the county where he was arrested and convicted of the crime.Jefferson County commissioners approved the settlement last week with Floyd Bledsoe, who was released from prison in 2015 after DNA evidence showed he could not have been the killer of 14-year-old Camille Arfmann in Oskaloosa.Bledsoe will receive $1.5 million initially, with the rest to be paid over the next 10 years, The Kansas City Star reported. Bledsoe, who is now 46, was 23 when he was convicted in 2000 of killing the girl. Canada to continue air evacuations from Sudan, navy vessels on standby

Antioch man charged with allegedly making violent threats towards synagogue, police say

5 killed in 'execution style' mass shooting in Texas, suspect on the run

CLEVELAND, Texas (KIAH) – Five people are dead, including an 8-year-old boy, after police said a man under the influence shot them inside a Texas residence Friday evening.Police said the suspect is now on the run.Deputies with the San Jacinto County Sheriff’s Office were called to a home in the 100 block of Walters Road in the Trails End area of Cleveland on reports of harassment. As deputies were en route, the communications center received multiple 911 calls of an active shooter incident at the dispatch location.When officials arrived, they found four people shot dead above the neck “almost execution style," according to a release from the sheriff's office.A fifth victim, an 8-year-old boy, was not found dead inside the residence.
